India is a developing nation and the youth constitutes almost more than half (65%) of the population of the nation. The rapid growth and diversification of developmental activities have resulted in much needed expansion of employment opportunities, but at the same time have triggered rural to urban migration. This trend has inadvertently resulted in shift of farm labour to non-farm sectors. In the present scenario, creating awareness about agriculture among school going rural youth is a dire need. The present study was conducted to assess the socio-economic status of rural youth, to find out the awareness level of school going rural youth regarding agriculture and its various aspects and to analyze the corelation between socio-economic status of rural youth with their awareness about agriculture. The sample from three villages viz., Kavita, Chikalwas and Thoor consisted of 450 youth selected from three classes i.e. 7th, 8th and 9th. Standarized tool developed by Aggarwal (2005) was used to collect data for socio-economic status. Checklist was prepared to find out awareness about agriculture. Data was analysed by using corelation, frequency and mean and percentage distribution. Results revealed that there was significant relationship between socio-economic status and agriculture awareness of rural youth. Majority of the respondents were from low and medium socio-economic status and had average awareness about agriculture and its various aspects. Proper steps should be taken at G.Os and N.G.Os level for channelizing youth towards agriculture for its sustainability.

The family is the oldest and the most important of all the institutions that man has devised to regulate and integrate his behaviour as he strives to satisfy his basic needs. Its key position rests on its multiple functions in relation to overall well-being. Therefore, it would emerge that not only the social and physical well-being of the individual is taken care of by the family, but the psychological well-being as well. Because children's lives are centered initially within their families, the family environment becomes the primary agent of socialization. The family environment involves the circumstances and social conditions within families. Since each family is made up of different individuals in a different setting, each family environment is unique. The environments can differ in many ways which directly or indirectly affects the development of youth. The study examined the assessment of family environment of rural youth. The total sample for the present study consists of 40 youth from five operational villages of AICRP, i.e., Nohra, Lakhawali, Maanpura, Bhilwara, and Dangio ka Guda. These youth belonged to the age group of 14-24 years. Frequency and Percentage distribution was used for statistical analysis. Results revealed that overall family environment of rural youth were poor in the aspects of relationship dimensions, personal growth dimensions and system maintainence dimensions.Keywords

The interdependence of school and community culture played a critical role in shaping the youth's occupational choice. For adolescent, their vocational choice is one channel through which their life's goal and purpose might be fulfilled. The career choice that adolescents make is a decision that is influenced not only by their development but also by the context in which they live. School environment is a powerful force and plays pivotal role in the all-round development of the child as children spend many hours in schools. Especially in rural settings, children are not exposed to most of the vocations which are currently available. If children get proper guidance regarding various vocations from school teachers, parents as well as from any other person or family members, they can excel in those vocations as per their capability if they opt for it. This research primarily focused to find out the vocational exposure and vocational interest of rural children in selected states of India. Present study was carried out in order to find out the vocational interest of 13 50 academic backward rural school children between the age group of 11 -17 years and to provide results based remedial solutions and interventions. Vocational Interest Record (VIR) developed by Kulshrestha (1987) was used to find out the vocational interests of the academically backward rural children. The scale measures vocational interests of the respondents in ten areas, viz., literary, scientific, executive, commercial, constructive, artistic, agriculture, persuasive, social and household. For this purpose, samples were selected from different villages of nine states in India which includes Assam (Jorhat), Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad), Haryana (Hissar), Himachal Pradesh (Palampur), Uttar Pradesh (Pantnagar), Rajasthan (Udaipur), Maharashtra (Parbhani), Punjab (Ludhiana), Uttarakhand (Dharwad). Results revealed that majority of the rural children from selected states of India were not aware of the availability of different vocational choices. Proper interventions, counselling and guidance should be given to these children that will further help them to settle in their career.Keywords

Surrogacy refers to the act of bearing a biological child of another woman with any financial or sentimental object. Surrogacy define to a contract in which a woman carries a pregnancy for another couple. Number of infertile couples from all over the World approach India where commercial surrogacy is legal. Although this arrangement appears to be beneficial for all parties concerned, there are certain delicate issues which need to be addressed through carefully framed laws in order to protect the rights of the surrogate mother and the intended parents.Keywords

The stresses inherent in the daily challenges of life create a need for continuous monitoring and adjustment. It is a nearly continuous process as people are frequently confronted with new and changing environmental demands that can lead to stress. Minimizing, mastering or managing a situation in such a way as to render it less distressing is the goal o f coping. Everyone copes but some ways are better than others. Being able to cope with things makes one a stronger person. This research primarily focused to find out the coping strategies among rural youth in selected states of India. For this purpose, a study was carried out in order to find out the coping strategies of 349 rural youth from selected states of India between the age group o f 14-24 years and to provide results based remedial solutions and interventions. Coping response inventory developed by Moos, 1993 was used to find out the coping skills used by rural adolescents. The scale measures coping skills o f the respondents in two major areas viz. approach coping and avoidance coping. For this purpose, samples were selected from difierent villages of nine states in India which includes Assam (Jorhat), Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad), Haryana (Hissar), Himachal Pradesh (Palampur), Uttar Pradesh (Pantnagar), Rajasthan (Udaipur), Maharashtra (Parbhani), Punjab (Ludhiana), Uttarakhand (Dharwad). Results revealed that maj ority of the respondents belonged to low category of approach and avoidance coping.Keywords
